The purpose of my blog: truth seeking in health matters

My calling as a physician is the prime motivation for sharing my experiences with others on my quest for ultimate healing — healing of the body, mind, and spirit. But I also believe that unbridled optimism and idealism must be tempered with realistic expectations and practical considerations. At the moment, I would like to focus on searching for ways to attain optimal (though not always perfect) health for fellow mankind.

Before I throw myself in at the deep end writing on different topics, I would like to say a few words about the unifying theme of my writing, which is to seek truths in matters relating to health: financial health, physical health and spiritual health, not necessarily in order of importance. The reason I have chosen topics related to finance and investment for my initial blogs is simply a matter of expediency, as most people are often concerned about their financial well-being before their physical and spiritual health.

People can be unhappy whether they are rich or poor, but given the choice, most people would rather be rich and unhappy than be poor and unhappy. Rich or poor are relative terms, of course. Unless Carlos Slim Helu and Bill Gates are reading this blog, all readers of this blog are relatively poor compared Warren Buffett, but are rather rich compared to most folks in undeveloped countries. So I arbitrarily define “rich” as having sufficient resources to meet one’s physical and spiritual needs in a dignified manner.

I am not so presumptuous as to think that I have truth on my side all the time. Finding the path to truth is often fraught with perils and uncertainties, physically and mentally demanding, but somewhere along the way one may be rewarded with the breathtaking vista rarely seen before by others. I would simply like to share with you some of these unusual sights I have come across in my quest.

Your joining me in this endeavor will make it so much more meaningful, so I invite you to come along on this journey with me.
